Gogoi nominated to Rajya Sabha; Opposition alleges quid pro quo
CJI Ranjan Gogoi, who has been part of Ramjanmabhoomi and Rafale verdicts that have gone in favour of the Ruling party, has been nominated to Rajya Sabha by President Ram Nath Kovind on March 16, 2020. The post was vacated after another legal luminary KTS Tulsi resigned from the past but controversy has already erupted. Son of a former chief minister of Assam, Ranjan Gogoi served as India’s 46th chief justice.
